YHVH chose “Israel,” Jacob, Abraham’s grandson, because of the promise YHVH gave to Abraham that He would multiply Abraham’s seed “as the stars of heaven” (Gen. 22:15-18).
“15 And the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto Abraham a second time from the heavens, 16 and saith, `By Myself I have sworn — the affirmation of Jehovah — that because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one —
17 that blessing I bless thee, and multiplying I multiply thy seed as stars of the heavens, and as sand which [is] on the sea-shore; and thy seed doth possess the gate of his enemies; 18 and blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth, because that thou hast hearkened to My voice.’ (YLT)
YHVH repeated the promise to Isaac in Gen. 26:3-5
“3 sojourn in this land, and I am with thee, and bless thee, for to thee and to thy seed I give all these lands, and I have established the oath which I have sworn to Abraham thy father; 4 and I have multiplied thy seed as stars of the heavens, and I have given to thy seed all these lands; and blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth; 5 because that Abraham hath hearkened to My voice, and keepeth My charge, My commands, My statutes, and My laws.’ (YLT)
Abraham’s faith and obedience is the reason YHVH determined that the plan of salvation would be brought into the world through Abraham’s seed – Yeshua, Jesus Christ (Gal. 3:16). It is the faith line of the same faith that Abraham had which was so firm as to lead him to obey God’s command to sacrifice his promised son, Isaac. Abraham obeyed without question.
“6 And it is not possible that the word of God hath failed; for not all who [are] of Israel are these Israel; 7 nor because they are seed of Abraham [are] all children, but — `in Isaac shall a seed be called to thee;’ 8 that is, the children of the flesh — these [are] not children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for seed;” (Rom. 9:6-8, YLT)
It was through the line of faith, the son of promise, Isaac, that the Messiah would be born. The promise was always to the descendants of Abraham’s faith. It was not a blood-line promise. Jesus’ genealogy included two Canaanite women, Tamar and Rahab; Ruth, the Moabitess; and Bathsheba who had been married to Uriah the Hittite, who became the mother of King Solomon. (Matt. 1:3, 5, 6)
The promised seed, the Messiah was the branch which Isaiah prophesied would rule nations, and would be the hope of the nations.
“And a rod hath come out from the stock of Jesse, And a branch from his roots is fruitful. 2 Rested on him hath the Spirit of Jehovah, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and might, The spirit of knowledge and fear of Jehovah. …
And there hath been, in that day, A root of Jesse that is standing for an ensign of peoples, Unto him do nations seek, And his rest hath been — honour!” (Isa. 11: 1-2, 10, YLT)
Which Paul confirmed in Rom.15: 10-12:
“10 and again it saith, `Rejoice ye nations, with His people;’ 11 and again, `Praise the Lord, all ye nations; and laud Him, all ye peoples;’ 12 and again, Isaiah saith, `There shall be the root of Jesse, and he who is rising to rule nations — upon him shall nations hope;’ (YLT)
But, the unbelieving Jews of the 1st century AD, as had their fathers before them who had killed the prophets God sent to them, continually disobeyed the Law, twisted the Law for profit, and tyrannized anyone who countered their teachings. Jesus told those scribes and Pharisees that the kingdom would be taken from them and given to another people.
“43 `Because of this I say to you, that the reign of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth its fruit; 44 and he who is falling on this stone shall be broken, and on whomsoever it may fall it will crush him to pieces.’ 45 And the chief priests and the Pharisees having heard his similes, knew that of them he speaketh, (Matt 21:43-45, YLT).
God’s plan of salvation was always for the faithful because those who do the will of the Father, who obey the Father and follow after Him are the true sons of God.
“for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God; “ (Rom. 8:14, YLT).
Race doesn’t matter to God. Blood line doesn’t matter to God. He does not count the color of your skin, or how tall you are, whether circumcised or uncircumcised (Gal. 6:15), nor the nation where you were born. He is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).
“there is not here Jew or Greek, there is not here servant nor freeman, there is not here male and female, for all ye are one in Christ Jesus;” (Gal. 3:28, YLT)
“where there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, foreigner, Scythian, servant, freeman — but the all and in all — Christ.” (Col. 3:11, YLT)
The only thing that matters to God for our salvation is whether or not we are in Christ Jesus. Being in Christ, being covered by His blood (Rom. 4:7), raised into His resurrection (Rom. 6:4), partakers of His Passover (1 Cor. 5:7) makes us His chosen people.
Now, today under the new covenant of the gospel of Christ, all who have been baptized (immersed) into Christ are counted for the seed of Abraham (Gal. 3:26-29). Therefore, the chosen people of God are still the faithful of Abraham’s faith, and are Abraham’s seed. Now, all who are in Christ of every nation on this earth are the Israel of God that is saved with an everlasting salvation (Isa. 45:17).
It is spiritual Israel, not earthly Israel, who are the chosen people of YHVH. We who are in Christ are the ones who are appointed to be His ambassadors on this earth (2 Cor. 5:20). We who are in Christ are His appointed priests and kings.
“9 and ye [are] a choice race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that the excellences ye may shew forth of Him who out of darkness did call you to His wondrous light; 10 who [were] once not a people, and [are] now the people of God; who had not found kindness, and now have found kindness.” (1 Pet. 2:9-10, YLT)
” and they sing a new song, saying, `Worthy art thou to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it, because thou wast slain, and didst redeem us to God in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, 10 and didst make us to our God kings and priests, and we shall reign upon the earth.’ (Rev. 5:9-10, YLT)
We are chosen, set apart, and anointed by and for God when we are immersed into His Son’s name for the forgiveness of our sins. That anointing makes us His chosen people. We are Americans, Canadians, English, French, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Finnish, Swedish, Polish, Armenian, Argentines, Colombians, and Jews. Everyone from every nation who has been immersed into Christ has put on Christ (Rom. 13:14; Gal. 3:27), and has entered into the new covenant of the everlasting kingdom of YHVH, and are the chosen, anointed people of God.
Being His chosen people has nothing to do with any man-made nation boundaries drawn by evil men of the Rothschild’s in 1948 for their Zionist Greater Israel Project. The wars that have been fought in the Middle East over a false teaching that the “state” of Israel had to be re-created so that Christ could come again and rule from Jerusalem are all because of a lie. The war being carried out today between that Rothschild state of Israel and Gaza is a design of evil men for their evil purposes to kill and destroy as many people as possible.
If any who have power and authority are listening, I beg of you not to support or defend these evil men in any way. Do not send them money; do not send them weapons; do not send them soldiers to be pawns in their war.
As God’s chosen people, Christians are not to support evil, nor to defend evil. We are to oppose it (Eph. 6:11) through the whole armor of God, which is the gospel of Christ. As His ambassadors here on this earth we are to speak His truth in love, for it is by His words that peace may reign among the nations. As His chosen people, we are demanding peace!
“`Happy the peacemakers — because they shall be called Sons of God.” (Matt. 5:9. YLT)
“for God is not [a God] of tumult, but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the saints.” (1 Cor. 14:33, YLT)
Amen to everything you’ve written in this blog post. However…
You wrote, “Race doesn’t matter to God. Blood line doesn’t matter to God. He does not count the color of your skin, or how tall you are, whether circumcised or uncircumcised (Gal. 6:15), nor the nation where you were born. He is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).”
Indeed, race doesn’t matter to God, anymore, because of what our heavenly Father had orchestrated and carried out and achieved through His Son’s atoning blood for all mankind. This speaks of His grace and love that He had for mankind all along.
Yet, Scripture speaks of a time when the Most High chose Jacob as YHWH’s portion. In fact, the bible begins with the value God placed in everything after its own kind to narrate how that principle was violated resulting in the corruption of Man’s lineage. Hence God separated for Himself a people to bring forth the Son of Man from that lineage.
Long story short, thanks to Christ race doesn’t matter to God anymore.
But alas, I know you don’t prescribe to this narration, but it’s there in Scripture.

Sorry for the delayed reply. For some reason this comment went to the spam folder. God’s choice of Jacob as His portion has nothing to do with the corruption of the fleshly lineage (DNA ?) and everything to do with His promise to Abraham, b/c of Abraham’s faith. Christ’s lineage is a faith line lineage, not a physical or race lineage. Remember that Christ’s lineage includes gentiles: Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba as she had been married to a Hittite.

Both sides must be held accountable and responsible.
When an ideology openly promotes and teaches violence and hatred towards all who have different views and opinions should be stopped as it is against international law
National law
Only islam has such medieval ideologies at its core the koran.

I would research the Judaism taught today from their Midrash, Kabala, and other books to see that they are also teaching violence. As bad as they are, Islam is not the only problem.

Question about Matthew 12:32
“Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or the age to come.”
By “this age” I assume Jesus was referring to the Mosaic Covenant age that was still effective at that time. By “the age to come” I assume Jesus was referring to the New Covenant age in which we live now, the New Jerusalem. So what is this unforgivable thing that was unforgivable in the prior age and is still unforgivable in our present age?

Yes, their present age – this age – was under the Mosaic covenant, and the age to come was speaking of the age under the new covenant of the gospel of Christ in which we now live. There are some faulty positions on this unforgivable sin due in main part b/c of their assumption that the “age to come” spoke of a future “2nd coming” of Christ at the “end of time.” Though I don’t know how they reconcile that age to come after an end of time judgment day.
My thoughts on Matt. 12:32 is that the unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit is to call Him a liar. His word is truth (John 15:26; 16:13; 17:17) The Holy Spirit is the agency that provided God’s word to us (2 Pet. 1:21). God’s word is truth (Psa. 40:11; 43:3; 86:11; 100:5; 119:151) The Cambridge Bible commentary here comes closest to my thoughts in that if you have denied Jesus as the true Son of God, then you have denied the truth of the Spirit and will not be forgiven.
“in this know ye the Spirit of God; every spirit that doth confess Jesus Christ in the flesh having come, of God it is,” (1 John 4:2, YLT) So, if you deny Jesus as the Son of God, you have called the Holy Spirit a liar. When Peter denied Jesus’ statements in Matt. 16:23, Jesus called Peter “adversary” (which many incorrectly translate as a name Satan). Jesus put a very quick stop to Peter’s blasphemy as Peter had in essence denied the words of the Holy Spirit which Jesus had just told him.
So if anyone persists in denying the truth of God’s word, the truth of the Holy Spirit that Jesus is the Son of God and that He came in the flesh, and they die still in this denial state, they will not be forgiven. If, however, they turn from this denial and rebellion and repent, confessing Jesus to be the Son of God, and are immersed into His name, then I do believe they will be forgiven.

So I think I wrote my question too early. The fact that Moses’ son was not already circumcised, means that Moses was not following after the sign of the covenant that God had given to Abraham, correct? So does this mean that Moses was not able to deliver God’s son (Ex 4:22-23), unless he submitted to God’s covenant terms for his own son (circumcision)? Is it possible that God had been dealing with Moses about this but it is just not recorded, and that is why it just goes to the heavy dealing of God with Moses that is recorded (perceived as God trying to kill him)? And Zipporah was perceptive enough to recognize this?

Passage of time is not always represented in the scriptures. Most probably some weeks had passed between vs. 17 and 24 as it would have taken some time to prepare his family for the journey, or possibly he waited waited for the birth of his 2nd son. The rite of circumcision was specified for the 8th day after the birth (Gen. 17:14). The phrase “the Lord met him, and sought to kill him” is unclear. Some of the commentaries mention a possible sudden illness, rather than a face to face conflict. As the confrontation with God was such a sudden about face from Moses’ earlier conversation, then the fault God found with Moses had to be a recent cause. God’s anger was b/c of the failure to circumcise Moses’ second son Eliezer. Moses probably had circumcised his first son Gershon according to God’s command given to Abraham. For whatever reason, his wife Zipporah did not agree with this practice and thought it barbaric. That Moses did not insist upon it, meant he had given in to Zipporah’s wishes. Both Moses and Zipporah knew the cause of Moses’ imminent death, so God had to have made the reason for His anger known to them. That Zipporah immediately performed the circumcision means that she knew what that rite was, and what it meant. She knew she had to save Moses’ life. God could not send Moses to be the law giver to His people (His son) if Moses would not comply with the law. I especially like both Gill’s Exposition and Keil & Delitsch’s comments at Ex. 4:24 at Biblehub.com – https://biblehub.com/commentaries/exodus/4-24.htm.

Question about the “Great Commission” that we find in the gospels. Jesus said to them, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” Is this message for us in the 21st Century or was it just for the 1st Century audience? In our study of prophecy, we’ve already established that “all nations” and “the whole world” does not refer to the whole Earth as people today think of it. Rather, it was a reference to the world as they knew it. The world occupied by the Roman Empire. Jesus concluded the “Great Commission” by saying, “I am with you to the very end of the age.” Since the end of the age happened in A.D. 70, can we conclude that we are not commanded to spread the gospel today? “All nations” does not include The United States of America, for example.

Jesus was speaking to His disciples after His resurrection, and just before His ascension. We always identify the speaker and to whom He is speaking. Jesus’ instructions in Matt. 28:19-20 were for His disciples whom He chose to send – thereby making them His chosen Apostles / messengers. The end of the age is when they were going to be taking that message of the gospel and was the end of the Mosaic age – AD 70 at the fall of that temple in Jerusalem. Many of them would be killed before Jesus returned to carry out that judgment. As these instructions were specific to His apostles, then we cannot take them to ourselves in our day and time. They were sent out into the “nations” that made up the entire Roman empire of the 1st century AD as that is how the word was understood. Today, it is technically incorrect for preachers to say that they have that same great commission as we did not receive it directly from Jesus, nor can we preach that gospel to those same people of that generation in those “nations” of the Roman empire.
We have the direction from Paul to Timothy as our example. 2 Tim. 2:2, ” and the things that thou didst hear from me through many witnesses, these things be committing to steadfast men, who shall be sufficient also others to teach;” (YLT) That lesser commission is the one assigned forward by the Apostle Paul to his apostle / messenger Timothy to keep the gospel going throughout all succeeding generations.
An apostle is a messenger, one who is sent. The question must always be who is sending that messenger to know whose apostle he is. Paul was an apostle of Christ. Timothy was an apostle of Paul. Barnabas was an apostle first of the assembly at Jerusalem (Acts 11:22), and then of the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:2).
So we follow the instruction Paul gave to Timothy to teach others also who can continue to teach others also. I take that to be wherever we are, to whomever we can speak as the opportunity presents. We don’t have to be standing behind a podium, or travel to a far country. Family and friends. Standing in line at the grocery store, talking to people around me at the bank, or the department store check out. Just a casual reference may open a conversation that will have an effect or allow some one to ask the question that we may give the answer of the hope that is within us.

Let’s see… 1. Eternal. 2. Yes 3. Yes 4. Yes 5. Yes 6a. Yes 6b. Yes, in that His salvation while offered to everyone is only effective for those who answer His call. 7. & 8. tribes of Jacob, in light of the new covenant, in light of Gal. 3:26-29 are now redefined as all those who are in Christ and are now counted as the seed of Abraham, Jacob’s grandfather. As those who are in Christ are in every nation on this earth, then all spiritual “Israel” are preserved / saved. 9. Adam was a man, of the species of man. Not a Jew. I dislike the word “human” as it was invented, or came into being mid 15th century AD, & becomes distorted by “humanism” beliefs.
