Lies of the Roman Catholic Church – Part VI; The Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit

The Roman Catholic Church is teaching its members that they wrote the Bible.   This is a lie against the Holy Spirit!   This teaching contradicts the Scriptures.   I am sure it amazes Moses, David, Solomon, and the other writers of the Hebrew Old Testament books which existed long before the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) was ever conceived by man.

It was the Holy Spirit who wrote the scriptures through the men He inspired.   Think of the men as God’s secretaries.   Their hands and minds were moved as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:4, ” And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, asking for prayers that the Holy Spirit would give him the words to speak….

Eph. 6:19-20, ” And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

The writers of the New Testament books were those who had received the Holy Spirit through either the baptism of the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost or at the house of Cornelius, or those the Apostles had laid their hands upon during the first century A.D.   They had been given the Holy Spirit, and were moved by the Holy Spirit to speak and to write the books we now have in the New Testament.  (Acts 2)  And, they did so long before the establishment of the RCC, or the devised office of the Pope.

The RCC is again making a false claim, which is another blasphemy, claiming that they speak in place of God!   Not only is this false claim a contradiction of the scriptures, it makes the Holy Spirit out to be a liar!   All members of the RCC should run away from that synagogue of Satan as fast as they can.

Only God interprets.

Dan 2:18-19, “ 18 That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.”

Dan. 2:27-28, 27 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; 28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;”

Daniel prayed that God would show him what Nebuchadnezzar’s dream meant.

2 Pet. 1:20-21, 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

So, the men who wrote the books of the Old Testament were “moved” by the Holy Spirit as they wrote.   It was the Holy Spirit who was dictating, and the Holy Spirit who was the source!   Knowing this, that the Holy Spirit is the source of the scriptures, then the scriptures must be our first source of information, and our final check on all other sources. (sola scriptura)

2 Tim. 3:16-17, “15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Matt. 22:29, “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.”

John 5:39,  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

Acts 17:2, “ And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

Acts 17:11, These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

The Bereans were eager to hear the word, and checked the scriptures to see if Paul was telling them the truth.   The Scriptures were the source they used to verify Paul’s teaching.

Acts 18:24, “And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.”

Rom 15:4,  For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

God tells us to test what we hear from people who preach and teach words supposedly from God, or who claim to speak for God, or His Son. If they are not according to the inspired word of God, their words are false.   We are told by the scriptures to discard and ignore false teachings.

1 Thess. 5:21, Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”

And, again at

1 John 4:1, ” Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

How are you going to try the spirits of men?   There is only one way, and that is to check the inspired scriptures given us by the Holy Spirit to see if the spirits of men are truly speaking as the Holy Spirit spoke.   If you do not know what the word of God says, how can you know if men are teaching the truth?

So, when men, or a group of men, or a church teaches something other than the Holy Spirit teaches, it is false.   And, why would a “church” tell its members that the Scriptures are not on an equal basis as the pronouncements of its leaders, or the traditional writings of its “church fathers”?   Would it be because they don’t want the members to question the leaders, but to blindly follow orders?   That is brainwashing!

We are expected to know better than that. God demands that we check everything against His word! (sola scriptura)

2 Tim. 3:16,  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

If the RCC is going to claim that they wrote the Bible, then they are going to have to prove that they are inspired by God.   That means that they are going to have to show that the popes, bishops, priests, and “church fathers” are infallible and have never made an error!

Many authors have already shown that the popes, and men of the RCC have made many errors, and thus cannot prove they are inspired.   They are all fallible men who have made many mistakes that contradict the scriptures of God.   Any utterance by the popes that contradicts the scriptures is not to be honored as the word of God, and as all their teachings and preaching are from fallible men they are subject to the ultimate test to be verified against God’s word. (sola scriptura)

The scriptures are true and are given to us by the Holy Spirit, and none other than the Holy Spirit.  Not only has the Old Testament been completely verified, but so has the New Testament.   It is the work of the Holy Spirit who has maintained the writings so that we have them complete today.   To say otherwise, as the RCC has done, is to speak against the Holy Spirit.

“The fact is that the books of the New Testament are the most extensively verified books of ancient history. The facts completely undermine and discredit any attack on the integrity and transmission of the Bible.”   …and further…

“We know how the original New Testament books read because we have three surviving classes of evidence by which to reconstruct the original New Testament: Greek manuscripts, ancient versions, and patristic citations. The current number of Greek manuscript copies containing all or part of the New Testament now stands at 5,795. This amount of manuscript evidence for the text of the New Testament is far greater than that available for any ancient classical author. The time between the writing of the original books of the New Testament and the earliest surviving copies is relatively brief. Although no two manuscript copies agree in every detail, the degree of accuracy achieved by most scribes was remarkably high. The vast majority of textual variants involve minor matters that do not alter any basic teaching of the New Testament. No feature of Christian doctrine is at stake. Suitable solutions to these differences are detectable. Even if they weren’t, manuscript evidence is so prolific that the original reading is one of the extant options. Even those variants that some might deem “doctrinally significant” (e.g., Mark 16:9-20; John 7:53-8:11) pertain to matters that are treated elsewhere in the Bible where the question of genuineness/certainty is unquestioned. We can confidently affirm that we have 999/1000ths of the original Greek New Testament intact. The remaining 1/1000th pertains to inconsequential details.”

I highly recommend the work at Apologetics Press on the inspiration of the Bible, as well as other matters.   They have excellent research materials.

The popes and the RCC claim they have inherited authority from Peter and from Christ, who both quoted from the Scriptures and thus verified the authority of the Scriptures.   And, yet they deny the Scriptures by placing their authority below that of the pope and the traditions as taught by the “church fathers”.   They have elevated the pope and the “church fathers” above God.   Only evil, wicked people make the claim that they hold positions above or equal to God. (Is. 14:14-15 re: King of Babylon; Acts 12:21-23 re: King Herod)

Paul testifies in Gal. 1:11-12 that he received the gospel by revelation from Jesus Christ.   Luke testified in Acts 1:2-3 that Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to His Apostles. Psa. 119:160 tells us that God’s word is true from the beginning.

Both the Old Testament books, as well as those of the New Testament have been authenticated.   The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947 have verified almost all of the OT except the book of Esther, and as they were written by scribes in the Qumran, they were not associated with the Roman Catholic Church.   The only differences found in the Dead Sea Scrolls are punctuation marks and spellings.   We have more evidence of the original texts of the Bible than any other book in human history.   And, the texts all predate the existence of the Roman Catholic Church.

The RCC’s claim that they wrote the Bible is false, and is blasphemy as the claim calls the Holy Spirit a liar.   The Roman Catholic Church has no authority from God as they speak against the Scriptures.   Anyone who deliberately tells you something different from the Scriptures is lying to you, and is not of God. (sola scriptura)

(All bold emphasis is mine.)
