The Book of Enoch – Fable or True

There are many bits and pieces, many supposed parts and chapters that comprise the Book of Enoch that is passing around today.  The most used appear to be based upon the translations of the Ethiopic Book of Enoch found at the S.O.A.S. (School of Oriental and African Studies) Library at the University of London, printed and published by Oxford University Press.

That is the same Oxford University Press that published the Scofield Reference Bible which is nothing more than propaganda used to generate the support for the Zionist and Jesuit dream “state of Israel” which they created in 1948.  (See post at right for Part VI of It’s Not The End of The World.)

We must consider the source of the information.  The source of the published Book of Enoch is suspect.

Oxford University Press is a department, a corporation, run by the owners of Oxford University, and is the largest university press in the world.  It is used to further their objectives.  In their words, from their website,

“As a department of the University of Oxford our worldwide publishing furthers the University’s objectives of excellence in scholarship, research, and education. Our main criteria when evaluating a new title for publication are its quality and whether it supports those aims of furthering education and disseminating knowledge.”

Whose knowledge are they disseminating?  Whose criteria are they using to disseminate this excellent knowledge?  The University of Oxford is known to be a communist think tank, and the center of propaganda for the New World Order (NWO).

The university at Oxford began in the 12th and 13th centuries around the leaders and bishops of the Church of England, as that was the church that supported the centers of “knowledge” and lectured before the printing press was available.  In 1854, an act was passed which allowed others who were not members of the Church of England to study at Oxford.

In 1902, Cecil Rhodes left a great deal of money to Oxford to allow for scholarships for students from the United States, Germany, and colonies of England.  (Oxford History)   Cecil Rhodes financial empire was underwritten by the Rothschilds, and one of his intents for the use of the scholarship was to indoctrinate the students with the political agenda of returning the American colonies to the British empire. (Rhodes Scholars intent)   The scholarships were controlled by the Fabians, a socialist society which founded the leftist Labour Party in England in 1900.

Rhodes stated intention, “To and for the establishment, promotion and development of a Secret Society, the true aim and object whereof shall be for the extension of British rule throughout the world.”   His Round Table group was the source of the secret societies on the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Bilderberg Group, the Club of Rome, and others with which we contend today for their New World Order, and one world government.  (Secret Societies of the Round Table)

Other information on the university indicates its recent leaning toward humanistic (Darwinian) teachings, and Catholicism in the 19th and 20th centuries.  “From 1833 onwards The Oxford Movement sought to revitalize the Catholic aspects of the Anglican Church.”   (Intro & History Oxford)

So, when you see a book published by the Oxford University Press, you should begin by recognizing it is the propaganda center for the NWO, and that their publications will first and foremost be supporting and disseminating that propaganda.  Then ask what objective they may have for printing and publishing fables such as the Ethiopic Book of Enoch.

Matt. 13:27-28, “So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?  28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?” (KJV)

Satan uses lies to deceive the people and turn them away from God.

Jude 1:14-15, “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” (KJV)

Jude does not say “from the book of Enoch”, nor does he say “it is written”.  He certainly doesn’t say, “The Ethiopic Book of Enoch”.   In Jude, the Holy Spirit restates a prophesy which Enoch spoke, and which may have been common knowledge among the Jews.  Jude confirms the first century prophesy of the judgment that was coming upon the wicked who crucified Christ and were persecuting His church.

We can conclude from this scripture that Enoch was a prophet of God, and spoke prophesy to the people.  But, we cannot conclude from this scripture that there was ever a book of Enoch.

It seems foolish indeed to suppose that a book written by a man who existed before the flood, before the Hebrew language come into being, somehow survived the flood, and bits and pieces were translated into the Hebrew language and were subsequently found among other apocrypha of Jewish writings in Qumran in or about 1948.

The point of Jude’s mention of Enoch’s prophesy was that the coming of the Messiah and a then future destruction of ungodly men was known before the flood.

The book is considered to be pseudepigrapha –  which means :

1: plural   : APOCRYPHA

2 : any of various pseudonymous or anonymous Jewish religious writings of the period 200 B.C. to A.D. 200;  especially   : one of such writings (as the Psalms of Solomon) not included in any canon of biblical Scripture —  usually used in plural

In other words, it is recognized by scholars to be a FABLE!

The very beginning of the Book of Enoch contradicts God’s word. If it is wrong from the beginning, then all of it must be considered to be erroneous.  It describes a supposed interaction with fallen angels mating with earthly women.  This is based upon a misreading or deliberate deception of Genesis chapter 6.  Let’s follow the logic of God’s word in Gen. 6:1-6 to show Satan’s deceit.

“1And it cometh to pass that mankind have begun to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters have been born to them,  and sons of God see the daughters of men that they [are] fair, and they take to themselves women of all whom they have chosen.

And Jehovah saith, `My Spirit doth not strive in man — to the age; in their erring they [are] flesh:’ and his days have been an hundred and twenty years.

The fallen ones were in the earth in those days, and even afterwards when sons of God come in unto daughters of men, and they have borne to them — they [are] the heroes, who, from of old, [are] the men of name.

And Jehovah seeth that abundant [is] the wickedness of man in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart only evil all the day;  6 and Jehovah repenteth that He hath made man in the earth, and He grieveth Himself — unto His heart.” (Young’s Literal Translation, or YLT)

or –

1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” (KJV)

The subject matter of Genesis 6 is in verse 1, identified as “mankind” or “men”.  The next phrase to note is “sons of God”.  Many people have been persuaded to believe the phrase “sons of God” must refer to angels.  That is false, and a misreading of the text.  Please see my previous post “Nephilim Reprise..And The Sons of God” for a full explanation of why these are the righteous men who followed after God.

Moreover, chapter 6 opens after the discussion in chapter 5 of the genealogy of the faithful line from Adam to Noah.  Those faithful were the sons of God of verse 1 in chapter 6.  Verse 1 establishes the subject matter as mankind, or men.  Of that class of mankind spoken of in the verse there are sons of God, the faithful, and the daughters of men.

Verse 3 of the scripture confirms again the subject matter is man and their erring flesh.  As mankind has born children of their wives, the daughters of men, they have become wicked, so that God sets a limit upon how long he is going to strive with them: one hundred and twenty years.

Verse 4 establishes the “fallen-ones” or the “giants” as the same men.  The NIV and other translations lift the Hebrew word “nephilim” straight into the English, which is a deliberate attempt to sensationalize the scriptures.  Nephilim means earth-born men who fell away from God.  The King James translated it as “giants” which Clarke’s Commentary identifies as seven different Hebrew words all meaning men of renown, of the name, known for great deeds.  It didn’t mean of great physical height.  The word giants as used in the KJV is misleading.

But, what is critical in verse 4 is that the fallen-ones already existed before the sons of God (faithful) went in unto the daughters of men (unfaithful) to beget children of them.  They were not a result of the mating between the sons and daughters.  And, the fallen-ones (nephilim) cannot be considered the same as the sons of God in the same verse, else the same Hebrew word would have been used again in verse 4.  Fallen-ones, nephilim, are not sons of God, or verse 4 would have said “sons of God” in both places in verse 4.

Verses 5 and 6 provide the reason that God was  going to destroy the wicked; that by marrying and taking wives indiscriminately from the pretty daughters of wicked and evil fallen men, that evil had overcome all righteous sons of God, and pervaded the entire earth.

Gen 6:1-6 is an explanation offered by God as the reason why he caused the flood to come upon the earth, to wipe out and destroy the wicked, evil men.  It is not a description of angels fornicating with women, nor of a science fiction hybridization worthy of a Hollywood script.

We can conclude from the progression of the use of logic that the Book of Enoch is a fable, and is not in any way supportive of God’s word, nor to be used as an adjunct to God’s word for additional study or secretive information.

I Cor. 15:39-40, “All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.  40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.”

Genesis establishes what science teaches today, that species bear and propagate after their kind.  Elephants do not begat lions.  Chimpanzees do not begat ostriches.  Women do not begat hybrids of fallen angels.  See further evidences presented at the previous posts for Nephilim, and Nephilim Reprise at the right margin.

The Book of Enoch is not from God!  You should not rely upon it for any study.

All bold emphasis is mine.  See other posts for It’s Not The End of The World, Parts I – X, The Whore of Babylon, The Beast of Revelation, The Thousand Year Reign.., The Seventy Weeks of Daniel… and others at the right margin.

    Greetings Gina,

I wont comment on the book of Enoch as I think the discussion might become circular….

Instead I will focus on “sons of God” and “Son of God”.

The phrase Son of God appears 47 times in the “Bible – 66 books”…..
Once in the OT [Daniel 3:25] and 46 times in the NT….
There is no room for debate or confusion here…..they all speak of Jesus.

The phrase “sons of God” appears 10 times in the “Bible”.
5 times in the OT and 5 times in the NT

In the NT, 3 times the term is used by the Paul the Apostles in his Epistles to Rome [x2] and Galatia [x1]
In both cases Paul is drawing a picture of the inheritance of Heaven and the spiritual correlation to the new man…particularly in Rom 8 where he is elucidating on eternal sonship….

The other times are in the Gospels and it is Christ who is speaking, once in the “beatitudes” during the “sermon on the mount” and the other which is the most expansive one in the NT which is in Luke 20:27-47 [emphasis v36] – in this section Jesus makes it clear that His intentional use and placement of the phrase “sons of God” is to represent heavenly beings – in this case resurrected beings.

This then brings us to the OT….
And the phrase only appears in Genesis 6 [x2] and Job 1, 2, 38…..

So to understand Genesis 6 I will focus on Job 1 & 2 [Job 38 I believe confirms the same thing but its a sole verse] where a conversation is taking place in the presence of the “sons of God” who have presented themselves before the Lord, between Satan and God….and Satan confirms he “WAS” going to and fro upon the earth – suggesting that where he is in that moment [with the sons of God] is not on the earth….

Upon reading the verses [together with the exegesis of “sons of God” given by Jesus Himself, I don’t know how Genesis 6 can stand alone and have “sons of God” בְנֵי־הָאֱלֹהִים bēn ĕlōhîm mean something other than what Job and Jesus in Luke’s Gospel clearly tell us that “sons of God” are…..heavenly beings – like the angels Jesus said….

Look forward to hearing back – and by the way, I still love what you are doing….its awesome [your brother in Christ – Kyriakos]

    1. John 1:12, “but as many as did receive him to them he gave authority to become sons of God — to those believing in his name,” To those believing…. Mark 16:16, those who believed were baptized into His name…. Rom. 8:16, “The Spirit himself doth testify with our spirit, that we are children of God;” We are… present tense. Gal. 3:26, “for ye are all sons of God through the faith in Christ Jesus,” Again, present tense.

Being faithful, and following after the Spirit of God (Rom. 8:14) makes us children of God, sons of God while still living in this mortal realm. We do not have to wait for our heavenly home to be called sons of God. Christ is our brother (Mark 3:34-35) while we are living in the flesh as long as we do the will of our Father in heaven. So, as Jesus is the Son of God, first born of the resurrection, then those of us who believe, are baptized (immersed) and follow after the Spirit of God are also sons of God while we yet live in this realm. Sons of God are not heavenly beings. Heb. 1:5, “For to which of the messengers (angels) said He ever, `My Son thou art — I to-day have begotten thee?’ and again, `I will be to him for a father, and he shall be to Me for a son?'” (The correct translation of “aggelos” is “messenger” not angel). Messengers can be either heavenly or human depending upon context, and the clue is that the heavenly messengers are mightier in strength and power (Psa. 101:20; 2 Pet. 2:11). Human messengers were Moses, the Levitical priests, the prophets (Malachi’s name means “my messenger”); John the Baptist, Jesus, the disciples and apostles . That doesn’t make them heavenly angels.

As I make clear in my post “Nephilim… Reprise: And the Sons of God” – “The word “giants”, or “nephilim” or “fallen ones” are not sons of God in this text, or it would have been translated as sons of God both times within the same verse! That means that the sons of God in the second half of verse 4 are not the fallen ones in the first half of verse 4. They are different!” Please read that post.

It is presumed from the context that Job 1:6 and 38:7 are speaking of the heavenly host that watched God create the earth. The actual phrase in the Hebrew is not “sons of God,” but rather sons of Elohim. Though used in many English translations, it is not really accurate. It should read “messengers of God, or “angels of God.” The CEB has “divine beings,” which is also good. The CEV has “…angels gathered around…” The ERV has “… the angels to meet with…” So does the NIV, the NIRV, the NCV,. The NLT has it “the members of the heavenly court…” which I like very much.

Cambridge Bible commentary: “The angels are not called “sons of God” as if they had actually derived their nature from Him as a child from its father; nor in a less exact way, because though created they have received a nature similar to God’s, being spirits; nor yet as if on account of their stedfast holiness they had been adopted by grace into the family of God. These ideas are not found here. The name Elohim or sons (i. e. members of the race) of the Elohim is a name given directly to angels in contrast with men. The word means probably “powers,” “mights,” and the name is given to God and angels in common; He is the Elohim preeminently, they are Elohim in an inferior sense….” The rest of this commentary is worth reading : https://biblehub.com/commentaries/job/1-6.htm

  3. You are spot on! I posted a video to YouTube recently after reading up to chapter 40 of Enoch. Anyone who professes that they follow Yeshua (with an extensive knowledge and understanding of scripture PRIOR to reading Enoch, of course) should easily be able to see that it undermines the foundation of our faith.

Reading Enoch literally made me physically ill.

Enoch and the Bible are simply mutually exclusive, but nearly all have itchy ears in this wicked, wicked age- as was foretold!
